How To Add Related Noise To Your Squarespace Site

So you have created a Related Noise feed filled with awesome content and now you want you want to hook up your Squarespace site with your feed. No worries, once you make it through this quick walkthrough it will be all taken care of.

If you would rather watch a Walkthrough check out this video:

Step 1: Authorize your Page

On your Related Noise account, click the icon that looks like an electrical plug, if you hover over it "Connect" will pop up.

On this page you will see "Step 1: Give us Your Website's Domain". ENTER in the domain of your Squarespace Page without "http://" or "www." and exclude anything after ".com", ".org" etc.

If any of this extra info is in the submission, the Related Noise team will have to come find you to verify you have entered the right domain. Please don't make us do that, no one wants to see that :). Once your domain has been verified you will be ready to get into the good stuff.

Step 2: Copy the Javascript Code

Right under the Authorization section you will see a Yellow Shield, with a S inside, and 'JS' above the shield. This is your special sauce. Click and highlight all of the code in the box immediately below the shield you select. We cannot stress the importance of making sure that you copy all of the code. Missing any of that beautiful code will be as bad as the time you forgot to get your mom a gift on Mother's Day.

After you have copied all of the code head on over to Squarespace and we will pick this back up when you have logged in to Squarespace and are on the page that you are going supercharge with your Social Feed.

Step 3: Edit Your Page

Once you are on the page that you add your feed to, hover in the middle of the page. A grey box that says "Page Content" will appear, click the 'EDIT' button in that box.

Two sideways tear drops will appear in the input box that just came up on your screen. Click on the top one and you will see a popup box that has a couple categories in it.

From here you have 2 options to select from:

  1. Search for "code" in the search box in the top of the popup
  2. Scroll down to the "More" Section and find "code" which is the second item in the second line.

In the new popup, there will be an input box that has this "<p>Hello, World!</p> " already written in it. Get rid of that code and paste in the Related Noise code that you copied from earlier. Once ALL of the code is pasted click save in the lower right-hand corner.

Now you have to save your changes to the page in dark grey menu bar towards the left side of your screen.

Once you save all the changes you will see the Related Noise logo appear on your page with a loading icon. This a great sign! It takes a moment to sync the social feed to your Squarespace page, but once you refresh the page your everything will be there.

Step 4: View Your Content!

Refresh the page and you are on your way. As soon as your page reloads you will be able see (on every device) what everyone else will when they view your site.

After you've integrated your Related Noise Feed, you don't have to repeat this process again! All updates and changes you want to make to your feed can be done through accessing your Related Noise account at relatednoise.com. You can approve or reject content, change the design of your feed, etc. all within Related Noise and your Squarespace site will be updated automatically without you having to do anything else within Squarespace to see your changes.
